Latvian technology company dots. has signed a cooperation agreement with WB Group – the largest private defense sector company in Poland and one of the leading defense industry players globally. Under the agreement, dots. will represent WB Group’s interests in Latvia, with the aim of fostering strategic cooperation between the Latvian and Polish defense sectors.
Poland currently possesses the largest military force in Europe and its armed forces play a decisive role in ensuring regional security. Recent developments in Poland once again highlight the relevance and necessity of such cooperation. For Latvia, strengthening ties with Poland offers the opportunity to build closer security and defense industry integration in the Baltic region. At the same time, it is important to stress that modern defense capabilities are unthinkable without continuous innovation and the introduction of advanced technologies. These not only increase the efficiency of armed forces but also allow for faster adaptation to new, complex threats. In this context, cooperation with WB Group is of major significance. WB Group is the largest private defense company in Poland, offering world-class solutions to international armed forces, including communication, command, intelligence, and weapons control systems, various classes of unmanned systems, IT and cybersecurity solutions, as well as the equipment and modernization of military vehicles.
“Our cooperation with WB Group is a strategic step that demonstrates Latvian technology companies can be significant players in the global defense industry. We clearly see that regional security is a shared task today, and close cooperation with Poland is essential both for Latvia and for Baltic security as a whole. With this step, we are paving the way for SAFE program funds to be used practically and effectively – by establishing training and support centers, developing local production and strengthening our own defense capabilities. Our goal is not only to act as an intermediary but to be an active participant fostering the growth of Latvia’s defense sector and helping our country become part of Europe’s defense innovation network,” emphasizes dots. CEO Juris Vilders.
The agreement provides for the introduction and development of world-class defense technologies in Latvia, including Gladius systems already used in Ukraine. dots. plans to establish training and support centers to provide specialists with necessary knowledge and technical assistance, as well as to promote local drone production using funding from the European Union’s SAFE program. With this step, dots. becomes the first Latvian company to strategically foster defense cooperation with Poland, representing WB Group’s interests and ensuring that world-class expertise and technology are applied directly in Latvia. This cooperation will strengthen Latvia’s defense capacity, enhance regional security and reinforce the role of innovation in the defense industry.
The European Commission has made a decision on a provisional allocation of €150 billion in financial support to strengthen defense readiness across the European Union. The Security Action for Europe (SAFE) instrument provides long-term loans at low interest rates, enabling Member States to acquire urgently needed defense equipment and support the development of production capacity. From this funding, Latvia is allocated €5.68 billion - a unique opportunity to strengthen the defense industry and create new added value. Cooperation between dots. and WB Group will enable Latvia to use this program not only for equipment acquisition but also for developing the local industry and introducing advanced technologies that will strengthen Latvia’s defense capabilities in the long term.
